Andy Cashmore was the Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Manager for the West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) for almost 8 years and worked closely with the UK Civil Aviation Authority to develop the current regulatory requirements for UAS operators.

He is a member of the UK Chief Fire Officers Association UAS Working Group and the National Police Chiefs Councils UAS Steering Group. He has been an operator of UAS since 2007 and has responded to a wide range of operational incidents, in some very challenging environments.  

Amongst his other roles, Andy is a Hazardous Materials and Environmental Protection Officer and one of the cadre of UK Fire Service National CBRN(e) Tactical Advisors and is currently managing a project to review national doctrine for CBRN(e) response for the emergency services, which may include the use of drones in the future.
