Ronald Rigney is an Aviation Consultant with the Department of Transport (DoT), Abu Dhabi with responsibility for Aviation Development & Planning initiatives within the Department.

Prior to joining DoT, Ronald Rigney worked as an Air Traffic Management Specialist and Consultant at several companies, including Emirates Airline, QANTAS Airways and ICAO – Asia/Pacific Regional Office. Notable is his 33 years as an Air Traffic Controller and Manager for Air services Australia and his Chairmanship of the ICAO Bay of Bengal Air Traffic Flow Management Task Force, which facilitated the introduction of the BOBCAT Air Traffic Flow Management system in 2007.

Ronald Rigney qualified as an Air Traffic Controller in 1983 and was subsequently awarded a Diploma of Aviation (ATS).

His professional interests focus on Airspace Management, and his current projects include involvement with the UAE Airspace Restructuring Project, through his membership of the Project Technical Team and Project Management Team. In addition, he serves as a member of the UAE’s National Airspace Advisory Committee (NASAC), and is Team Leader of the NASAC Working Group responsible for the UAE ATM Strategic Plan 2015 – 2030.
